Those visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios will certainly be experiencing a lot of changes to the park over the course of the next few years. Beginning in 2016, ground will break for both Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land with many things needing to undergo refurbishment…including Pizza Planet.
Yes, Pizza Planet is going to be undergoing what will be a major refurbishment and it’s going to be out of commission for the majority of next year.
Disney has revealed that Pizza Planet’s refurbishment will begin on Jan. 11, 2016, and it’s set to run through “late 2016.” An exact date for reopening is not yet known, but it’s obvious that the popular quick-service location will be out of commission for a long time.
This has already brought about a lot of speculation as to what will happen in the refurbishment.
Some wonder if Star Wars Land (working name) will stretch in that direction and the current location of Pizza Planet will be remodeled entirely into something different. This could mean that Pizza Planet will be moved entirely to a different part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios to be reopened in Toy Story Land.
Then again, it could stay put and Toy Story Land could simply stretch around in that direction too.
Lots of speculation and talk has been going on…especially since the first permits were filed for work to begin at the park.
Either way, Pizza Planet having a reopening at all, even though it’s just listed as “late 2016,” does mean that it will be reopening in some form or another.
Please remember that dates are subject to change and can do so without any notice. Please note that this information has been taken directly from the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar, but things do change at any time and it could start earlier again or be pushed back.
