It appears as if December is pretty successful for the Star Wars franchise and that’s obvious with the huge box office that The Force Awakens has taken in. That’s why Disney wasn’t too hesitant in moving back the release date of Star Wars Episode VIII to make way for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 in the summer of 2017.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (or Pirates of the Caribbean 5) had originally been slated for a mid-summer release, but that was delayed. Now, it’s being moved back up and will be released on May 26, 2017.
It was originally scheduled to open on July 7, 2017.
The new date is the old slot for Star Wars Episode VIII and it was set to be about six months after Star Wars: Rogue One is released. Now, fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for the next chapter in the third part of the saga.
Star Wars Episode VIII will now open on Dec. 15, 2017. Yes, it’s going to be another Christmas release for “the force,” and that’s not a bad idea considering it opened then in 2015 and is closing in on $2 billion worldwide.
