A couple weeks ago, many were going wild on Twitter as Elton John appeared at Disneyland and played right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Well, now everyone will get a chance to see that performance when ABC airs The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 on Feb. 21, 2016.
Derek Hough will be hosting the special broadcast which will happen from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and all around the Disneyland Resort. Some locations will include Sleeping Beauty Castle, Cars Land, and Main Street U.S.A.
Some of those set to be on the show are Josh Gad (Olaf, himself), Pentatonix, and more.
As if that isn’t enough all on its own, there will be a number of special appearances throughout the show…and that includes an awesome performance by Elton John.
Among the special appearances during the show, one of the most successful solo artists of all time, Sir Elton John, will captivate audiences as he performs in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland park by singing the Oscar®-nominated song “Circle of Life,” from Disney’s “The Lion King,” and his new song “Wonderful Crazy Night,” from his upcoming album.
One of the cool things is that those watching at home will be able to actually participate in Elton John’s performance.
Fans watching the show at home can participate in Sir Elton’s performance and much more with the Disney Applause app, available for iOS and Android. Applause delivers a second-screen, interactive experience that will sync directly to the broadcast’s major musical segments, displaying colorful light shows and original content on viewers’ phones. Their display will be in harmony with the illuminated accessories worn by guests and elaborate lighting design during the performances.
