So, there are strange happenings at Walt Disney World, and then there are strange happenings at Walt Disney World. The latter is the case of a story passed along to me from Sunday night at Epcot when Test Track broke down and a Guest cut the seat belt and got out of the stopped car.
Yes, you have read that correctly.
As has been confirmed by two sources close to me as well as a third and fourth that I don’t personally know…this is how it all went down. All four of these people have first-hand knowledge to the situation.
On Sunday evening, Test Track ended up stopping due to technical difficulties. After a few minutes, the attraction was back up and running again.
As one of the Test Track vehicles returned to the load/unload dock, Guests in the vehicle told Cast Members that someone had gotten out. During the downtime, the Guest had apparently used a knife of some sort to cut through his seat belt and exit the vehicle.
The remaining Guests in the car said that he was wandering around the area near the semi-truck inside the attraction, and not on the outside high-speed loop.
As soon as Test Track began moving again, the Guest had not returned to the car and had apparently found an emergency exit and left without being found.
The moment that the Cast Members were advised of the Guests leaving the vehicle, an emergency stop took place and the entire attraction was evacuated. The disabled vehicle was taken out of operation and the seat belt was replaced the following morning.
A search of the attraction turned up nothing.
It’s still not known how he was not seen or captured on the surveillance cameras inside Test Track, but it is very dark in many locations. No injuries were reported and everything turned up alright, but Cast Members were incredibly confused by the whole situation as you may imagine.
Folks…don’t do stupid things like this.
