As always said, refurbishment dates can be changed, moved, extended, cancelled, or brought back in again all the time. The 2016 refurbishment for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has already been moved once and is moving again as it is not on the schedule for Spring anymore, but is now scheduled for the Fall.
Last year, it was revealed that the attraction would close at one point in 2016, but was then taking off the schedule. When it came back on the schedule, it was set to be closed for the second half of Spring and into the summer.
Now, time to move again.
As of now, Thunder Mountain will be closed for refurbishment as of Aug. 8, 2016, and will stay closed all the way through Nov. 18, 2016.
The attraction is tentatively scheduled to reopen to Guests on Nov. 19, 2016.
Some are beginning to wonder if the Thunder Mountain version in Walt Disney World will be upgraded as the version in Disneyland recently was. New special effects and sounds were added in, and let me tell you, it’s quite amazing.
Please note that dates are subject to change and can without any notice. These dates are officially listed on Walt Disney World’s refurbishment schedule, but that does not mean they can’t possibly change.
