Recently, The Fairy Godmother and Lady Tremaine have been taken out of Magic Kingdom due to budget cuts. Epcot has lost three character meet-and-greets as well. Now, Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ entertainment is the latest victim as 10 of the Citizens of Hollywood will be no more.
Rumors of more entertainment budget cuts have been coming, and not it’s been confirmed for many of the Citizens of Hollywood. A spokeswoman for the Actors’ Equity Association, which represents the performers, has revealed that 10 of the 29 citizens will not see their contracts renewed.
Come mid-April, more than 1/3 of the Citizens of Hollywood will be no more.
One of the performers not having their contracts renewed is a part-timer, but the other nine are all full-time Disney Cast Members.
Notice was given to the Cast Members sometime last week, and as of Monday, it was confirmed.
At this time, it is not exactly known which members of the Citizens of Hollywood will no longer be roaming the streets of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but that info will come soon enough. The budget cuts are all said to be a result of the extra cost and delays in construction for Shanghai Disneyland.
