Disney has brought brand new life back to theaters with their live-action films that have already been released and soon-to-come. Now, the next big attraction to get the film treatment will be one of the originals as screenwriters have now been hired to script “it’s a small world.”
Writers Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio have been hired by Disney to take on the project, according to Variety. Jon Turteltaub will be directing the movie and he’ll also be producing along with Dan Lin. Jonathan Eirich is executive producing.
Not much of anything is known about the “it’s a small world” movie as of yet, but it will be based on the popular attraction.
“it’s a small world” was created by WED Enterprises and made its 1964 debut at the New York World’s Fair. It was lauded for its incredible use of audio-animatronics and then rebuilt in 1965 after the fair ended and installed in Disneyland.
There are now five versions of “it’s a small world” at Disney Parks around the world.
Rasmussen and Di Meglio have a number of films to their credit including Meet the Fockers, Marmaduke, The Girlfriend Equation, and License to Wed.
Hopefully, more will be known soon about the “it’s a small world” movie. Hopefully, it will go the route of Pirates of the Caribbean and not the way of Haunted Mansion or Country Bears.
