The grand opening of the new Shanghai Disneyland Resort is set for Thursday, June 16, 2016, and if you can’t be there…Disney is going to still give you the chance to experience it.
Yes, those around the world can enjoy the grand opening of the Shanghai Disneyland Resort as it will be broadcast on the Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney XD.
The special will be called Grand Opening Celebration of Shanghai Disney Resort. It will last 30 minutes and is set to air simultaneously on those networks on June 16, 2016, at 8 p.m. EST. It will then air again on Friday, June 17 at 10 p.m. EST on Freeform.
Disney CEO Bob Iger will be joined by 3,000 distinguished Guests, celebrities, government officials, and many more for the grand opening. They will stand before The Enchanted Storybook Castle with creative acrobatics, choreography, costumes, and technology joined by Disney music, pageantry, special effects, amazing lighting, and fireworks.
Other musical festivities include a custom arrangement of “Let it Go” by pianist Lang Lang; the debut of the song “Ignite the Dreamer Within,” written especially for the grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland; along with classics “Once Upon a Dream,” “Heigh Ho” and “Some Day My Prince will Come,” all performed by the Shanghai Symphony, and conducted by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon composer Tan Dun.
Sofia Carson of The Descendants will narrate the Shanghai Disneyland grand opening special.
