Walt Disney Animation teased a big announcement for today and fans that tuned into Facebook certainly got one. Yes, the connection may have been interrupted, but not before Rich Moore and Phil Johnston were able to officially confirm that Wreck-It Ralph 2 was happening.
As the director and writers were making the announcement, Ralph voice-actor John C. Reilly kept walking through the shot wearing some huge fists. He asked where a number of things were in the building and then even questioned why they were standing in front of a brick wall.
It was then that the official announcement of a Wreck-It Ralph sequel was made even though it had been rumored a number of times in the past. There’s no official word yet on who else could come back as a voice talent or who will be joining Reilly, but signs point to Sarah Silverman returning as the voice of Vanellope.
Hopefully more will be known soon, but this is awesome to get a sequel to a really great animated flick.
During the big announcement this morning, an exact release date was also given and Wreck-It Ralph 2 will officially hit theaters on March 9, 2018.
