As was rumored back in June, Typhoon Lagoon will indeed get a brand new family raft ride and it will arrive next year which is when Miss Fortune Falls is set to open.
Disney confirmed on Tuesday that Miss Fortune Falls will open in 2017 and it is going to be located next to the Crush ‘N’ Gusher slide. Much like everything at Typhoon Lagoon, this new family raft ride will have an intricate and detailed backstory.
Miss Fortune Falls will tell the story of the fictitious Captain Mary Oceaneer who is a treasure-hunting heroine who was stranded at Typhoon Lagoon many years ago thanks to a sudden rogue storm. Guests will float through the past of Captain Mary and see numerous artifacts she collected on her many treasure hunts.
The attraction will have a ride time of two full minutes and be one of the longest at the Disney water parks.
“We’re thrilled to add to our menu of great guest experiences at Disney’s Water Parks with Miss Fortune Falls,” said Faron Kelley, vice president of ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney’s water parks and miniature golf.
“We believe this new attraction will quickly become a favorite with our guests, who are always looking for new ways to enjoy our parks,” Kelley said.
There is no set date yet for the opening of Miss Fortune Falls, but it will be in 2017.
