The new parking garages at Disney Springs have truly helped in huge ways since opening, and now, there will be one at the Disneyland Resort. A brand new 7-story parking structure and elevated walkway is being built and it will open before the Star Wars-themed land.
The OC Register reported that documents were filed on Wednesday for a 7-story, 6,800-space parking structure to be built next year along Disney Way.
The transportation hub will also include an elevated pedestrian walkway over Harbour Boulevard which will connect it with Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. It is set to be completed sometime before the Star Wars-themed land is completed.
A completion/opening date for that land is not yet known. As for the parking structure, the entire project is scheduled for completion in late 2018.
Disney has plans to shutter its current transportation hub where there is a drop-off location near the main gates of Disneyland. The new one will be built about half a mile away on Manchester Avenue.
The Carousel Inn and Suites was purchased by Disney last year for $32 million and plans are to close it in October and eventually get rid of the buildings completely.
Once the parking structure and walkway would be completed, Guests would go through security and then take the bridge heading toward the entrances of the two parks.
