With the era of the MagicBand in complete and total swing, Disney is reportedly looking at something new to come along in the world of MyMagic+, and it may be more of a Fitbit-style.
According to Magic Band Collectors, the FCC has revealed evidence that a MagicBand-puck of some type is in development and it is something that would fit into a changeable strap. The puck would be kept the same, but Guests could switch out different straps to their liking.
Essentially, this would help with a number of matters:
- Guests wouldn’t be sent a new puck/MagicBand on each trip and it wouldn’t clog up their My Disney Experience account.
- It would keep costs down for Disney as not having to produce new bands with embedded RFID chips in them for each resort stay.
- The IT servers for MyMagic+ wouldn’t be slower and bogged down by multiple MagicBands being on each Guest’s MDE account.
Please note that Disney has not officially said anything about this whatsoever. They have not said if they’re getting rid of the MagicBand or even adding a new style and form of technology. This is merely a report, but nothing confirmed.
While this new style/tech may be in development, it’s still possible that it never sees the light of day.
