It was only a matter of time until it happened, but it is indeed going to take place. Disney is partnering up with Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book) for a live-action version of The Lion King.
It’s being called a re-imagining and we’ve seen them before, but it essentially means that The Lion King will be turned into a live-action film. The interesting thing is that the 1994 animated classic is being transformed by Jon Favreau.
Yes, the man who brought forth the live-action version of The Jungle Book from earlier this year, and it was an incredible hit for Disney.
Excited for my next project ????????

Disney has officially confirmed this “new reimagining” of The Lion King, and it shouldn’t be surprising that they are working with Favreau again. With a worldwide box office haul of $965.8 million for The Jungle Book, it seems like that’s a pretty good relationship.
Favreau is also working on The Jungle Book 2 for Disney, but as he stated on his social media accounts, The Lion King live-action is next up for him. There have no official release dates for either of his next two films, but some are thinking The Lion King may hit theaters for the 2018 holiday season.
