It is now known that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening at Disneyland Resort sometime in the summer of 2019. Knowing that major crowds are going to descend upon the park for that opening, Disneyland is bringing about major changes for its Annual Passholder program.
The changes are going to be similar to how the annual passes at Walt Disney World work as some passholders will be able to visit specific parks on specific days. Emails are going to be sent to Disneyland annual passholders to explain the new program which will have two admission calendars.
Some passes will be good at certain parks – Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, or both – on certain days.
“As our business evolves, this is the first step in reshaping our Annual Pass program, which will better manage the guest experience and allow all Disneyland Resort visitors to have a great visit, particularly as we look forward to the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in summer 2019,” Disneyland spokeswoman Liz Jaeger said in a prepared statement.
The new annual pass program is set to begin in June of 2019 with two calendars – one for each park. When heading to Disneyland Resort, they will need to check which park will allow them entry on which days.
If guests go to the official Disneyland website, they will see drop-down menus for both Disneyland and DCA with dates letting them know which park is available to them:
- Gray – No entry allowed
- Green – Yes, entry allowed
Primarily, this will affect those with the mid-priced Deluxe passport while those with the higher levels of annual passes will not see any changes.
