Earlier this week, the Disney community lost a great man as Richard Gerth, the longtime greeter at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, passed away. He touched the hearts and was a big part of the lives of countless guests, and that includes of the celebrity variety such as John Stamos.
The passing of Richard Gerth is the second huge loss to the Walt Disney World community as Christopher George Weaver, aka “Mayor of Main Street U.S.A.”, died back in December. Whenever a beloved Cast Member and Disney figure passes away, their fans usually create memorials or post tributes to let them know how much they meant to the world.
Richard is one of those amazing people who touched the lives of numerous guests from around the world. Many would make sure that visiting him was a part of their Walt Disney World vacation…and that included celebrities such as John Stamos.

Management at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has said they are “working on something” regarding Richard Gerth and his passing. That could be a memorial or service of some kind or something else, but as of Friday evening, nothing had been decided on as of yet.
The resort flag at the Grand Floridian had been lowered to half-staff after Richard’s passing.

Huge loss to the Disney family … the best suggestion i’ve seen is to bronze his hat and make it into a tribute in the lobby of the GF with a plaque and a picture … another idea is they could re-name the Garden View lounge after him.
