Yes, there is a whole new galaxy coming to Epcot with a couple of new attractions set to open in the coming years. As time goes on, it’s going to be fun watching the construction and now, let’s take a look at the progress on the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster coming to Future World.
The Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster is being built in the old Universe of Energy pavilion which housed Ellen’s Energy Adventure for many years. In addition to using that building, an entirely new structure is being built for what will be one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the world.
If you go to Epcot at any time, you almost can’t help but notice the construction taking place, so, lets’ look at what is going on.
As you can see, the Universe of Energy pavilion has a construction wall around it, and you can’t get any closer than this. Look off to the right beyond the trees, though, and you can see the structures rising high into the air.
If you head outside the main gate of Epcot, you can actually see things a bit more clearly.
At the far end of the Epcot parking lot – farthest away from the toll entrance – you can see even more as the structures are really building up nicely.

The monorail ride through Epcot also provides a good view of what is happening with the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.

Heading out into World Showcase, you can see the building really taking shape and how tall it will actually be.

While there is still no opening date set for the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster at Epcot, it is known that Disney wants it open by the 50th anniversary in 2021. Along the construction walls, there are signs showcasing the number “21” which don’t seem to have a relevant meaning, but could possibly be a year.
