Jennifer Lee And Pete Docter Confirmed To Run Disney Animation And Pixar After John Lasseter’s Departure

The era of John Lasseter at Pixar and Disney is officially coming ever closer to an end, and that became more cemented in place this week. Jennifer Lee, director of Disney’s Frozen, and Pete Docter, director of Inside Out, have now been officially named as Lasseter’s successors once he leaves at the end of 2018.

John Lasseter’s duties will be split among the two with Lee having been named as the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Docter being named the chief creative officer at Pixar Animation Studios.

These are moves that were expected for some time now, but Disney has finally confirmed both.

In November of last year, Lasseter took a six-month leave of absence due to the allegations brought against him and his conduct in the workplace. Disney recently revealed that he would return in a “consulting role” with The Walt Disney Company until Dec. 31, 2018.

At that point, he will leave the company completely with Pete Docter and Jennifer Lee taking over.
