Back in October of last year, there was a bit of an uproar when it was announced that select Walt Disney World Resort hotels would allow dogs to stay there. Well, the dog-friendly pilot program looks to be concluding its test soon and it may come to an end by this October.
The program launched in mid-October 2017 and it included four resorts which would allow dogs to stay with guests. It was called a “pilot program” for the dog-friendly resorts and consisted of these locations and the cost per night:
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort $50/night
- Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort $50/night
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort $75/night
- Cabins at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort $50/night
If you’ll remember correctly, the official announcement from Disney did state that this was a dog-friendly “trial” program, and that it was being tested for a year.
Well, a year’s time is coming up and if you contact Disney, you will be advised that the dog-friendly program at some resorts is scheduled to end in the latter half of October. As of this time, it has not been extended, but there is still always that possibility.
Any current reservations made with dogs accompanying guests to any of the four resorts mentioned above will be honored. If you check in by at least Oct. 15, 2018, and are wanting to bring your dog, it will be granted.
As of now, Disney is simply not guaranteeing that dogs will be allowed at those resorts past that date.

Boooo!! I’ll cancel my 2019 Disney plans right now then!
I’d imagine security may be an issue; with Disney having implemented plans for every room to be checked daily (i.e. by housekeeping) as a security measure to prevent a situation like the Las Vegas shooting, the presence of a dog might be an unwelcome X-factor.
Hooray!! No more dog hair! Or wet dog smell in the halls!!
Great news I love dogs but not in Disney they belong home where mine are
