Magic Kingdom has allowed all guests to enter its gates late for Disney After Hours for a couple of years, but now, it is branching out. Typhoon Lagoon has become a late-night party spot as well with H2O Glow Nights beginning this summer and let me tell you…it is something to enjoy time and time again.
They started back on June 21 and ran 16 different nights throughout this summer at Walt Disney World. On Saturday, July 28, 2018, Disney invited the media out to enjoy a day at Typhoon Lagoon and hang around for H20 Glow Night that evening, and I’m sorry, but it’s incredible.
Essentially, Glow Nights will allow guests (who have purchased tickets) to be in Typhoon Lagoon from 8 – 11 p.m. without the full daily crowds around. Guests can enter the park starting at 7 p.m.
Virtually all attractions in the park are open, there is a dance party on the beach, Toy Story meet-and-greets, and glow sticks as far as the eye can see. Oh, and the complimentary glow sticks can be picked up at Singapore Sal’s for those attending H2O Glow Nights.
How much is it?
Tickets for H2O Glow Nights are $55 per person for adults and $50 for kids ages 3-9. There are discounts for WDW Annual Passholders and DVC Members which make tickets $49 for adults and $44 for kids ages 3-9…tax is not included.
While not confirmed, I did speak with some Cast Members at Glow Nights who told me that approximately 3,000 tickets constitute a sell-out. Considering the size of the park, that means even a sell-out = a very uncrowded park.
What attractions are open?
Unless there is a problem, the whole park will be open during Glow Nights and you’ll be able to walk on everything. Wandering around the park at times, rides were almost completely abandoned and it was incredible.
- Typhoon Lagoon Surf/Wave Pool
- Castaway Creek
- Ketchakiddee Creek
- Keelhaul Falls
- Mayday Falls
- Gangplank Falls
- Humunga Kowabunga
- Storm Slides
- Bay Slides
- Mountain Trail
- Miss Adventure Falls
- Crush ‘n’ Gusher
Making matters even more enjoyable is that lazy river known as Castaway Creek won’t have just the normal tubes for guests to float around in. There is a special “glow” aspect to things and it really adds a fun touch.
What entertainment is there?
Rex’s DJ Dance Party takes place on the main beach right in front of the wave pool and near the clock tower. A DJ is out there playing music and there are Cast Members dancing, water balloon tossing contests, hula hoop competitions, and so much more.
Oh, did we mention Partysaurus Rex?
If you want even more Toy Story fun, there are a couple of meet-and-greets to enjoy with Buzz Lightyear standing outside of the Crush ‘n’ Gusher while Woody and Jessie are located over by the Typhoon Boatworks.
Let it be known that I wandered past both of these meet-and-greet locations on numerous occasions throughout this H2O Glow Night and never once saw a line. Seriously, I walked up and had fun with them a few times.
What food options are there?
There are A LOT of food options available if you’re enjoying the H2O Glow Nights, and most of them are event-specific. One of my favorite places was Happy Landings which has three incredible desserts that were hard to tear myself away from.
Other options include Leaning Palms, Typhoon Tilly’s, Surf Doggies, Let’s Go Slurpin’, Hammer Head Fred’s Dive, and High ‘n Dry.
Adult beverages can be found at numerous locations and many of them have some ultimate glow effects that make them even more enjoyable. While you’re visiting Leaning Palms, give the IMPOSSIBLE Burger a try too.
What services are open?
Guests can still pick up towels at Singapore Sal’s and rent lockers right next to it. That merchandise location is also open throughout Glow Nights for guests to pick up whatever they may want or need.
There are four dates remaining for H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon this year – August 2, 4, 9, 11. Hopefully, this was enough of a success to return later this year or most likely, next year. Yes, there is an extra cost but for an almost empty park and a lot of great extras, this event is well worth it.
The Walt Disney Company did provide the tickets for this day at Typhoon Lagoon, but I am a Walt Disney World Premium Plus Annual Passholder anyway. They did also invite and provide tickets for the H2O Glow Night, but trust me, we will be returning as we feel it is well worth the money.
