At the D23 Expo last summer, the plans were revealed for the TRON Lightcycle rollercoaster attraction which will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Today, we have a big update on the attraction coming to Magic Kingdom and it includes the temporary closures of two fan-favorites.
A new billboard has arrived at Magic Kingdom and it looks just like the image above. You’ll be able to find it along the route of the Walt Disney World Railroad, and it shows an idea of what is to come in the future.
Guests can find this billboard by heading to the back of Storybook Circus.
Construction on the new TRON attraction started months ago on a “new space” next to Space Mountain and it is going to encompass a very large area. That being said, there will be some time needed to close nearby attractions so work can continue on the new coaster.
Beginning in December of 2018, the Walt Disney World Railroad will stop running for a while and park itself in the Main Street Station. While there, guests will be able to get an up-close look at the railroad and even have some “one-of-a-kind photo opportunities.
There is no date yet announced as to when it will reopen.
Also, the Tomorrowland Speedway will close at some point in 2019 to adjust things, but it is going to reopen in summer 2019 as “the same attraction” that guests know and love.
There is no exact opening date yet for the new TRON attraction at Magic Kingdom, but it is set to debut in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
