Last month, an agreement was reached to raise the minimum wage for Cast Members at Disneyland Resort, and now, it’s happening at Walt Disney World too. After nearly a year of negotiations, a number of Orlando labor unions have come to an agreement for a minimum wage raise for Cast Members over the coming years.
Disney and the Service Trades Council Union announced the agreement this weekend which will raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2021. This is going to happen for the around 38,000 union Cast Members currently employed at Walt Disney World.
The minimum wage rise will take place on a ladder system over the coming years and happen as follows:
- December 2018 – Up to $11 per hour
- September 2019 – Up to $13 per hour
- October 2020 – Up to $14 per hour
- October 2021 – Up to $15 per hour
In addition, the Unite Here unions did reveal that Disney is going to pay the $1,000 bonus to unionized workers who were previously denied it under an older contract agreement.
