It has been rumored for many years and it is finally been confirmed to happen – “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” at Epcot is going to be replaced.
Disney has finally confirmed that after almost 20 years, a new nighttime spectacular is coming to Epcot, but don’t worry…you still have time to catch Illuminations before it is gone.
At the end of the summer next year, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth will officially come to an end at Epcot. An exact closing date is not yet known, but Disney will reveal one as we get closer to the ending of an era.
This is all a part of the transformation of Epcot which was first announced at the D23 Expo last summer. Of course, there is the new Ratatouille attraction coming to France, the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster in Future World, and a new movie coming to the China pavilion. Let’s not forget the brand new “Space” restaurant being built between Mission: Space and Test Track as well.
Again, the music and wonder of Illuminations only has a limited amount of time remaining as it will come to an end at the close of summer 2019. As more info is known, we will bring it to you.

Even though I will be showing my age, my family and I have been enjoying “Illuminations” since it’s beginnings in ’99. We even used to see the earlier version, in the ’80s. In fact, my wife and I were AP holders in 2015-16. We went for a 3 day Disney trip (we were Florida residents) for my birthday in October of ’16. Little did I know that seeing Illuminations the last night of that trip would be the last thing my wife and I would do at Disney, She passed away in January of ’17. I hope to go to see the show again sometime between now and when they end our favorite show in memory of my wife of 40 years and lifetime Disney fan.
I hope Disney keeps the classy , world theme to whatever replaces Illuminations.. my family has loved this show for years.
