Disney Doing A Live-Action Remake Of ‘Lilo & Stitch’

The live-action remakes of animated Disney classics are continuing and this time, they’ll be doing a little “experiment.” The team working on a live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin are going to bring forth a live-action/CG hybrid of Lilo & Stitch.

Released in 2002, the animated feature from Walt Disney Animation features “Experiment 626” aka Stitch who has landed on earth and befriends a young girl named Lilo. From there, they go through some crazy adventures together while also learning a lot about family.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are the producing duo behind the live-action(ish) Lilo & Stitch. Mike Van Waes will write the script for the remake.

Some may not like the idea of live-action remakes of Disney animated classics, but the company has had great success with the likes of CinderellaThe Jungle Book, and others. A number of other films are already being made or have been announced, but Lilo & Stitch is a brand new one on the calendar.

No word yet on when the movie could be released or even start production.
