A couple of months ago, Disney gave us the first teaser trailer for the live-action remake of Aladdin, but it didn’t show us a lot. Finally, an image has been released and there is more everyone to view including Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, and the first look at Will Smith as Genie.
Entertainment Weekly has released the first-look images from Aladdin which will feature Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith as Genie. Guy Ritchie is directing the re-imagining of the animated classic which hit theaters back in 1992.
The teaser trailer only showed Aladdin and the Cave of Wonders, but there wasn’t much more and there certainly was no Genie. Of course, that was the role so famously played/voiced by the late Robin Williams.
Now, the first images have been released of Will Smith as Genie in his human form, but NOT in his blue CGI design.
UPDATE at 3:30 p.m. ET
Additional pictures have been released.

Per Entertainment Weekly, the special effects are not yet completed on Will Smith’s character of Genie which will still float around and be blue.
Guy Ritchie says that Smith’s version of Genie is more self-absorbed than the version from Robin Williams. This version of Genie “cares about how he’s presented because he’s been doing this for a very long time.”
Will Smith states that the new Genie will be a mix between the version from Williams and the comedic characters of his from past films such as Bad Boys and Independence Day.
This first look at Will Smith’s Genie may be a bit of a shock for Disney fans looking forward to the new Aladdin, but there is more to come with his blue form in another trailer or pics.
Alan Menken will be joined by La La Land songwriters Justin Paul and Benj Pasek to add some new songs to the film, but a number of those from the original animated version of Aladdin will be included.
Aladdin is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2019.
