A brand new policy is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort next month, but it isn’t one overly new to everywhere else. Beginning on February 27, 2019, a new credit card authorization policy will begin for all resort hotel reservations and it’s time to learn what’s coming.
Walt Disney World Resort hotels are going to place incremental authorization holds on the credit cards that are placed on file at check-in. These cards will be used to make sure that any and all remaining or newly made charges are paid for by the guest.
The incremental holds on the credit card will be in place for any incidental expenses charged back to the room as well as any remaining balance. This is a practice that many other hotels around the world already have in place, and Disney is simply catching up.
On check-in day, guests who put a credit card on file will have an authorization hold placed in the amount of $100. Should guests go over that $100 amount, a new hold of another $100 will be placed and so on.
Disney is doing this for the reason of past situations where a guest’s trip would end, the resort would go to charge the credit card on file, and payment would not go through. This helps the company avoid issues of fraud or declined credit cards.
It will be possible to not have to deal with this new credit card policy and that is by not placing a credit card on file for your room. Should a guest do that, though, they will not be able to charge back to their room with their MagicBands.
Again, this new credit card policy will go into place on February 27, 2019, for all guests.
