With just a few weeks to go until the theatrical release of Avengers: Endgame, many fans know it is going to be a difficult film to endure. News released today just made it that much harder to get through as it has been confirmed that this film will likely be the late Stan Lee’s last-ever cameo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel genius passed away in late fall of 2018, and he’s known for so many wonderful things, but his cameos in the MCU movies are a hit with everyone. Upon his passing, many thought as if directors would keep his memory alive with small references or CGI cameos in future films, but it appears as if that won’t be the case.
Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo was recently at a media event for Marvel in India and he let it be known that the end of an era was approaching. Russo confirmed that Stan Lee had likely made his last-ever MCU cameo for the filming of Avengers: Endgame.
“I believe that [Stan Lee’s] final cameo is in Endgame. I don’t remember if he was well enough to do the cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home. But it was incredible to work with him.”
During the decade-long Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stan Lee appeared in all 22 films that came forth with his fun cameos. Upon his death, it started to hit fans even harder when they realized that he wouldn’t be able to film them any further.
Seeing as how Endgame is the final piece of a 10-year-long story in the MCU, it is very fitting that Stan Lee will make one more appearance.
