In September of last year, we reported that “Illuminations: Reflections of Earth” would be coming to an end in Epcot at the end of summer 2019, but we haven’t found out much about it. Now, we know some of the details for the temporary show replacing Illuminations, and it involves jet skis and kites.
The site blooloop had the chance to speak with some of those in Disney Parks Live Entertainment and they unveiled some details for “Epcot Forever.” We already knew that the show would have fireworks, music, lasers, lighting, and special effects, but there is so much more coming to it.
Apparently, there will be special effect kites which are going to be operated by jet skis going through the World Showcase Lagoon. There will be eight watercrafts/jet skis carrying a driver and a kite operator for the nightly shows.
It was also revealed that “Epcot Forever” will include music such as “One Little Spark” and “Magic Journeys” which will make old-school fans happy. Pyro is going to be “the star” of this show, though, as Walt Disney World Live Entertainment producer Ray Coble said.
Once Illuminations comes to an end around the conclusion of the summer/start of the fall, “Epcot Forever” will take its temporary place immediately afterward. The new permanent nighttime show is set to begin sometime in 2020.
