Earlier today, we reported that the Epcot Character Spot and some other locations would be closing as refurbishment work continues at the park. Now, there are other locations which will be closing as well and some of them being temporarily relocated.
Fountain of Nations and Pin Central
With the advancement and overall overhaul of Epcot, the Fountain of Nations is also going to be closing on September 8, 2019. The nearby Pin Central will also be closing as well with the old Camera Center becoming its new permanent home later this year.
MouseGear
The main merchandise location of Epcot will be closing at some point later this year, but an exact date is not yet known. It will receive a temporary home for a while as it undergoes a massive refurbishment.
Art of Disney
The Art of Disney merchandise location will be moving into Heritage Manor in the America pavilion of World Showcase. This will take place after its current location closes on September 8, 2019.
Electric Umbrella
Sometime “this winter,” the Electric Umbrella will be closing for a massive refurbishment in the same way that MouseGear is. Disney has stated there will be “new dining options” available in the future with a variety of food and beverage selections.
It could return as Electric Umbrella or an entirely new dining location. There has been no reopening date set as of yet, but it is expected to close on September 8, 2019.
Club Cool
An update on Club Cool is that its current location will be closing on September 8, 2019, as well, but it is said to be reopening in a new spot at a later date.
Please note that dates are subject to change and can without any notice. These dates are officially listed on Walt Disney World’s refurbishment schedule, but that does not mean they can’t possibly change.

I’m not in the best of health and so will probably not be able to visit Epcot again. I’m beginning to think maybe that’s not such a bad thing as so many things I used to love are just being bulldozed and either being replaced with unimaginative fast rides or simulators. To me, Disney is losing it’s way and forgetting the very reason Walt started it all in the first place. He said he wanted to create somewhere children and adults can have fun together, but increasingly small children can’t go on these new rides, whilst the elderly with back problems can’t either. So we are increasingly being left out. Unable to go on all these fast rides we are left with other attractions, like the large fountains for instance, and now we’re hearing they’re gong too. I consider when my wife and I first visited Epcot it was Disney at it’s absolute best. There were rides that were so positive they inspired me to great success. Rides like Horizons, World of Motion, the Energy Pavilion and the original Journey Into Imagination. They were just so positive, but also great care was taken to create an Epcot that was a truly beautiful place to be in, with flowers everywhere and inspiring music playing all the time. There were so may extra free shows too, like at the odyssey Theatre and many bands and performers. If Disney is just going to become yet another park of fast rides it’s going to lose out, as there are far better ones already. Epcot and the whole Disney experience was so good we used to travel thousands of miles from the UK several times a year just to be there. Where I hear how all these great rides are just being scrapped it’s almost criminal. When I watch back videos I made of these rides with so much detail and imagination behind them. Even sitting with a cool beer in the evening and watching the huge fountain display going is going to be denied us now. I do watch when people post videos of anything new, but nothing really impresses me anymore. I’d love to talk to the Disney executives responsible for all these changes and try to understand what’s going on in their heads. Trouble is, I fear it’s not much.
We totally agree with everything you said. We are a group that lives in south florida and go to Disney all the time. This past year has made us look again at other vacation destinations.
Disney is forgetting about the older guest, the autistic guests and very small children. Everything is Sensory based now…fast and loud! They wonder why things like that fight at disneyland happened this week…sensory overload…NO down time, just go go go fastpass after fastpass eat in a hurry..fight over a spot to see the 1 parade…go go go.
Disney has definitely lost their vision of entertaining ALL guests.
Change is good but it just floors me that so much is closing at once but it’ll be great when it’s done. We’ve been going since 1972 we’ve been DVC member since 2000 and change is expected and we excepted graciously it shows that there’s new adventures to be had
Well said and I totally agree!
