The Walt Disney Company announced a while back that Epcot could undergo a transformation to combine the future with the days of old. Many miss how Epcot used to be, but it is to be ever-progressing, right? Well, the D23 Expo is underway in California and we have now received more details as to how that will be possible.
In the new concept art shown above, the transformation of Epcot gets a more in-depth look than we have seen before. The Leave a Legacy monuments in front of Spaceship Earth at the park’s entrance are entirely gone for a new entry experience.
Looking just to the right of Spaceship Earth, Innoventions West is completely gone and there will be a new character building for guests to meet their favorites.
Continuing on with the transformation, there will also be a multi-level Festival Center complete with a bar and lounge on the rooftop. There will also be the much-talked about (already) walkthrough garden maze attraction themed around Moana.
Branching out a bit more, Future World will be changed into three neighborhoods called:
- World Celebration
- World Nature
- World Discovery
Looking around the other side of Future World, Innoventions East will contain Mouse Gear, the new Beer Garden coming in, a quick-service location (possibly refurbished Electric Umbrella), Starbucks, Club Cool, and other such things.
The transformation of Epcot is just getting underway and will take a while to be completed, but fans (such as us) need to have updates. That is why the old-school Odyssey Restaurant/Events Pavilion will reveal the Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience this October.
Inside this first-of-its-kind offering within a Disney park, guests will discover engaging and interactive exhibits that allow you to step inside the relentless innovation, energy and excitement and see some never-before-revealed details driving the future of Epcot all throughout this unprecedented period of transformation.

What are they doing with the “leave a legacy” monuments? My grandchildren always look forward to seeing their pictures.
The monuments are going away and the pictures will be moved to a location outside the entrance of Epcot.
