The acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney is one that brought a lot of new names and faces into the family. That includes Kevin McCallister from Home Alone which is getting the reboot treatment for Disney Plus and the cast has now been put together for the new film.
Archie Yates has been billed to play the lead role in the reboot and he will be accompanied by Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney. As of this writing, Kemper has not fully signed a deal and is still in negotiations.
Dan Mazer is going to direct the new version of Home Alone which has a script written by Streeter Seidell and Mikey Day.
The movie will not be a remake of the original Home Alone which means that Yates won’t be playing the iconic Kevin who was played by Macaulay Culin. Yates will play a new character in a movie that has a similar premise to the original film which has a young kid accidentally left home alone over the holidays and he has to protect his home from burglars.
The reboot of Home Alone is the first project to be produced by 20th Century Fox for Disney Plus. A release date has not yet been revealed.
