The Walt Disney Company’s purchase of FOX movie studios is bringing about some changes, and they are extremely noticeable. Both 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight are no more as Disney has dropped the “Fox” from their names in an effort to rebrand.
From this point forward, Fox Searchlight will be known as Searchlight Pictures while 20th Century Fox will simply be known as 20th Century Studios. It isn’t that Disney can’t legally use “Fox” in their logos, but this will avoid any issues with the Fox name that is still used for broadcast television and news networks.
As of this time, it is not yet known if the 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios will have their names changed. It is possible and likely, but not confirmed.
