Rick Moranis Officially Returning For New Sequel To ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’

Many had thought that he’d never actually star in another movie again after stepping away from acting back in 1997, but Disney has a way of making things work. Rick Moranis is officially returning for Shrunk which is a new sequel for Honey, I Shrunk the Kids that is heading to theaters.

It has now been confirmed by Deadline that Moranis is back and the deal is officially done. He will star in Shrunk which will be directed by Joe Johnston who directed Honey, I Shrunk the Kids which was released in 1989.

Josh Gad is going to star in the film as well and he will play the role of Wayne Szalinski’s (Moranis) grown up son. Gad’s character will be an aspiring scientist who wants to be just like his father, but accidentally ends up shrinking his kids.

The first film had the sequel of Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and then, the direct-to-video sequel called Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves. Fans of the Disney Parks can’t forget the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience 3D film attraction which appeared in Epcot, Disneyland, and other parks around the world.

There is no further info on the new movie such as when production will begin or when it will be released, but hopefully, that will come soon. No matter what, Rick Moranis is back and Shrunk won’t be heading right to Disney+ but hitting theaters first.
