Disney Plus is the streaming service that is expected to have all the content that there is to offer in the vault of the Mouse. Well, that won’t include absolutely everything as Bob Iger has now confirmed that Song of the South will not be heading to Disney Plus and he even explained why that is.
Many fans have been asking about the live-action/animated musical that is the inspiration for the Splash Mountain attraction. It has been expected that Song of the South would never end up on Disney Plus or being re-released again at all due to its sensitive subject matter and portrayal of African Americans.
At the Disney shareholders meeting on Wednesday, someone asked Executive Chairman Bob Iger if Song of the South will ever head to the streaming service. Iger said that with with a disclaimer stating the film has “outdated cultural depictions,” it is very unlikely.
Iger continued on and said that the 1946 film is simply “not appropriate in today’s world” and that it won’t be re-released by Disney on any platform.

By submitting to political correctness is to forget or remove history. Yes things happened in early history that would not be acceptable by today’s standards. But that’s how we learn, through history! History not learned from is bound to repeat itself. And that can be a very bad thing. If you think a song, or movie has content that would be offensive to you, don’t wat h or listen. But use as a learning experience.
