Walt Disney World To Submit Reopening Plans To Orange County Task Force Next Week, Per Mayor Demings

On Thursday afternoon, Universal Orlando Resort submitted their reopening plans to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. According to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, Walt Disney World is preparing to unveil their plans next week.

During an interview with CNBC on Thursday evening, Mayor Demings revealed that Disney will give their presentation next week. That presentation will include reopening plans as well as a date with which they plan on allowing guests back into the parks.

“Disney has given an indication that next week, they will submit their plans, and once they do, then we will schedule that for a full briefing before our Economic Recovery Task Force, as well. So, at this point, it’s an undefined time or date, but we do look forward to seeing that sometime next week.”

Mayor Demings did state that it is Disney’s intention to submit their plans next week, but we do not know to what extent. Hopefully, it will be in the same way that Universal revealed theirs.

Currently, the next meeting of the Task Force is scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

Please note that “submitting” and “presenting” of plans are different things. Just because Walt Disney World submits their plans to the Task Force doesn’t mean that the public will know everything as that comes with the presentation.

Universal Orlando’s plans include a reopening date of June 5, 2020, for the general public. The plans have been approved by Orange County and the mayor, but Governor Ron DeSantis must still sign off on them for the final say.
