The Walt Disney Company has now decided to add a third film into the Tron franchise.
According to a report from Deadline, Lion director Garth Davis has been named to helm the yet-to-be-named film. The third Tron film in the franchise will have Jared Leto in the lead.
Davis reportedly “aggressively pursued” the directing job for Tron 3 which will go on a script written by Jesse Wigutow.
The original Tron was released in 1982 and starred Jeff Bridges, who ended up captured in a deadly computer program. In 2010, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde starred in Tron: Legacy with Bridges returning to reprise his role.
Disney is currently building a Tron roller coaster attraction at Magic Kingdom, and it is set to open sometime in 2021.
