Disney’s Live-Action ‘Cruella’ Will Be Released In Theaters In Late May

While so many things are up in the air with how theaters are working or will operate in the future, one dog-hating woman is heading to them. Disney has now announced that the live-action version of Cruella will hit theaters on May 28, 2021.

Cruella was originally scheduled to be released in December of 2020, but delays obviously came about. Since that happened, we have not heard much as to when it would finally be released.

Rotten Tomatoes took to Twitter this weekend to announce that the May 28, 2021, date is now set in stone. Unlike Soul, it is not scheduled to be released straight on Disney+ or even on both at the same time as was the case with Mulan.

Emma Stone stars as the title character, but a younger version of the villain than the one we see in the animated 101 Dalmatians. Glenn Close, who played Cruella de Vil in the live-action remake of the animated film and its sequel will executive produce.

Cruella takes place in London in the ’70s as a young woman named Estella de Vil becomes obsessed with puppies. As a matter of fact, the fashion designer becomes obsessed with the hides of dalmatians for her latest fashions.
