Disney Magical Express To End Service At Walt Disney World In 2022

Disney Magical Express is only going to be in operation for one more year as the airport to Walt Disney World and back transportation is coming to an end.

Disney Magical Express will officially end its service as of January 1, 2022. The complimentary service has brought guests from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World Resort hotels and back.

Until that date at the start of next year, guests can continue to use the service. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, luggage delivery will continue to remain unavailable.

Per Disney:

“Vacationers have more options to choose from than ever for transportation, including ride-share services that save time and offer more flexibility to go where they want, when they want. In light of this shift, when Disney Resort hotel bookings open for stays in 2022, we will no longer offer Disney’s Magical Express service for airport transportation, starting with arrivals Jan. 1, 2022. We will continue to operate the service for new and existing reservations made at Disney Resort hotels for arrivals throughout 2021. Additionally, complimentary transportation options – such as buses, monorails and Disney Skyliner – will continue to be available within Walt Disney World Resort for Disney Resort hotel guests, including to and from all four theme parks.”

We join our families coming from all over and we are the elderly grandparents. They handle our luggage and we always stay on site meeting up with our 3 kids and our grandchildren. We had plans for last Thanksgiving and then reschedued for this year. I was happy to read that this does not start until Jan..2022.

now you don’t have the whole Disney experience. When I stay at a Disney resort, I like the whole Disney experience, that even eliminates the planning, running around airport, and driving my family to WDW. Please reconsider this convenience of having this opportunity of riding the bus, as you sit back and relax enjoying the pre-recorded video of what to expected. Please keep this service going for those that love that whole WDW experience.

  3. This is ridiculous, smh.

The Magical Express is the starting place for the magic!!! Just walking to the Magical Express entrance is fun…all the kids and adults are all smiling. I know this love is probably because of cost, but members of the Disney family don’t want it to go.

I would like Disney to continue the Magical Express service, even if offered for a fee. We were there in October with a group of 10 family members and in December with 14 family members. We flew from New Orleans, so arriving at the Orlando airport and having to accommodate transportation for 14 people – including 8 adults and 6 children ages 2, 3, 3, and 4 – would be very stressful. We had 3 strollers and 20 pieces of luggage. Ride-share would have required 4 vehicles for us. The point of flying for my family is to avoid driving or renting a car.

Disney, please consider offering this service for an up-charge instead of discontinuing.

So now, even though I’m going to stay in a Disney hotel, starting in 2022 I’m going to have to hire a taxi or rent a car to get me and my luggage to that hotel, like it was 30 years ago.
I guess it will simply leave us with less money to spend in the parks. But if it sounds like a good idea to you, who am I to argue?

  7. This was always the very special beginning of our Disney World vacation. I, too, would encourage WDW to reconsider, even if this becomes a fee-based service.

  8. I feel like if I don’t have this option I will rent a car. If I rent a car I will pick up groceries instead of spending so much in the park. I’ll also go elsewhere to dinner some nights and to buy lower cost souvenirs. Win win I guess

The Magical Express was so convenient getting to our Disney resort and back. The online check in service was so convenient. It made our traveling less stressful. We go to Disney every year for 31 years. I don’t know how we will deal with getting to and from our resort now that Disney will be suspending this service. I wish they will please reconsider or make changes to the Magical Express. If not, we will have to reconsider going to Disney every year because I do not like to rent a car while I am in Disney. Please don’t suspend service. It is part of the magic of Disney!

  10. My little guy is wheelchair dependent. How would we get from the airport to our hotel? Magical Express buses have wheel chair lifts and have always been so easy and stress free.
