PhotoPass Photographers Already Taking Mask-Less Pics At Walt Disney World – One Day Early

Just yesterday, Walt Disney World updated its park rules to state that guests may temporarily take down their masks for outdoor photos beginning on April 8, 2021. Well, the PhotoPass photographers have started things a day early.

While the official website states that the new rule will begin on Thursday, it appeared as if some practice was taking place on Wednesday.

PhotoPass photographers in Magic Kingdom were allowing guests to remove their masks/face coverings while they took pictures of them. This happened with multiple Cast Members in different locations of the park.

The signage is still up stating that masks must be worn while taking photographs. It is expected that those will be removed by tomorrow. Other Cast Members were not advising the guests to bring their masks up as well.

It is not known if the new mask-less photo rule has gone into effect a day early and if it is property-wide, or if this is a test, or if a mistake, but it was being done by a number of people.

Please make sure to follow all posted rules in the parks of Walt Disney World unless otherwise noted. Here is the new rule that was updated yesterday on their website, which still states it goes into effect on April 8, 2021.

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo*, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. (*Beginning April 8)
