E.T. Adventure Currently Closed At Universal Studios Florida In Honor Of Team Lead Who Passed In Fatal Crash

Many have noticed that the E.T. Adventure attraction in Universal Studios Florida is currently closed. This closure is happening in honor of Michael Skipper who tragically passed away in a fatal crash on the Fourth of July.

As reported by Fox 35 Orlando, Skipper (known as Skip) and his 14-year-old son Mickey were traveling home after celebrating the holiday. They were in a caravan of other family members who were in separate cars and heading home.

Mikey and Skip were in the last vehicle when a driver crossed into oncoming traffic and struck their vehicle head-on. The accident happened on Canoe Creek Road near Sullivan Drive on Sunday evening. Both drivers died on the scene and Mikey passed away later at the hospital.

Skip leaves behind his wife Jenn and their 7-year-old daughter.

For 15 years, Skip worked for the Universal Orlando Resort and friends say he loved the movie Jaws. He was a skipper on the attraction before it closed down and he most recently was a team lead for E.T. Adventure.

Many have noticed that E.T. Adventure has been closed lately, and other Team Members say this is due in honor and memory of Skip. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family of Skip and Mikey.

It is not yet known when the attraction will reopen.
