Last week, The Walt Disney Company suddenly replaced Bob Chapek and brought back Bob Iger as CEO. On Monday, Iger held a Town Hall meeting for Cast Members to let them know what is going on and how things will look heading forward.
Here are some excerpts and highlights from Iger’s Town Hall today.
– Iger acknowledged that it has been challenging for everyone involved in recent years. He went on to say that there is “a lot to do…and quickly.” The Walt Disney Company is going to focus on creativity and stay very “resilient” in making changes.
– When questioned about the previously announced hiring freeze, Iger stated that there are no current plans for that to change.
– During his time in retirement, Iger said it was much easier to view the company as a consumer. He was able to see how the everyday guest experiences and views Disney.
– As for the rumored merger and partnership with Apple, Iger dismissed all that as mere speculation.
– When asked about the Park Pass Reservation System, Iger admitted he has not yet used it. Before being able to comment on it, Iger said he’d need to first speak with Josh D’Amaro.
– Iger said the company is not currently looking at acquiring more assets. He is currently “comfortable” with what they currently have.
– Jokingly, Iger said that his wife encouraged him to return and take the CEO job at Disney as it would prevent him from running for the office of President.
– Iger said Disney must focus on making its streaming business profitable rather than concentrating solely on just adding subscribers.
– As for the relocation of the Walt Disney Imagineering department to Lake Nona, Florida, Iger states that has been delayed until 2026. A final decision has not yet been made and he will compare relocation as opposed to staying in California.
