A Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) TV streaming option is now available for Disney Cruise Line, but so far, only on the Disney Wish.
According to Disney Cruise Line Blog, the new service is available through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Guests will find a new tab for “Stateroom TV Streaming” when looking at it, once onboard.
The best part about this whole thing is that you do NOT need a purchased Internet/Wifi package in order to use this service. At least, not as of this time.
This will lead to your web browser which will connect to http://mxms.dcl.disney.go.com/ – This link is only available once onboard the Disney Wish and connected to the DCL-GUEST Wifi.
From this menu, guests will be able to control the TV channels and watch items from the Disney on Demand Library on whichever device they choose. This is great for those who have multiple guests in one stateroom and wanting to watch different things.
Editor’s Note: This is something that guests have wanted and asked about for years, but it just was never available. Earlier in February, we were on Royal Caribbean’s Oasia of the Seas and able to Chromecast different streaming apps from our phones to the smart TVs in the stateroom. Hopefully, this change on the Wish may lead to that as well on DCL before too long.
