Walt Disney World will soon phase out the option for guests to pick up their own plastic cup lids and paper straws at quick-service dining locations.
Beginning on August 21, 2023, the plastic cup lids and paper straws will only be available upon request from Cast Members. Guests will not have access to them in the self-service areas of restaurants.
This change will be done across all of Walt Disney World Resort property.
This is contributing to Disney’s efforts of having zero waste landfill for its parks, resorts, and cruise line by the time 2030 arrives. In 2018, Disney has already eliminated all single-use plastic straws, plastic stirrers, and polystyrene cups in their locations across the world.
