Many have been wondering what is going to happen to the Maelstrom attraction in Epcot‘s Norway Pavilion, and if it truly will be transformed into a ride themed after Disney’s “Frozen.” For quite some time now, guests could only make FASTPass+ reservations up to a certain point, but that has now been extended.
Don’t get too excited just yet. It hasn’t been extended by much.
As of now, you can make FP+ reservations for Maelstrom through Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014. After that, they still don’t exist.
Doctor Disney reader Mark brought it to my attention that FASTPass+ reservations for Maelstrom could now be made past the original cutoff date of Sept. 27, 2014, and into October. That cutoff date wasn’t confirmed, but it’s just how the FASTPass+ situation for Maelstrom has been for quite some time now.

Some Cast Members and Disney Reservations Line and Disney Tech Support have called it “a glitch” and kept saying that Maelstrom would be back on the list come October.
Doing some trial-and-error, I did see that after Sept. 27, 2014, FASTPass+ reservations can indeed be made for Maelstrom. Through the rest of September and the beginning of October, they are there for each day.
Come Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, the Maelstrom FASTPasses disappear once again and are totally gone. Going a full two months (60-day window) out from today, I checked through the rest of October and into the beginning of November and Maelstrom does not appear on the FASTPass+ selection screen after Oct. 5, 2014.
It’s going to be interesting to see if the attraction was just given a few more days or if the rumors of a “Frozen”-themed attraction in the works really are true or if there is just another “glitch.”
