Walt Disney World College Programs Ending Early Due To Coronavirus Closures

Due to the temporary closures of the Disney Parks because of the coronavirus/COVID-19 threat, another program is ending early. It was announced on Saturday that the current Walt Disney World College Programs are all ending early and those Cast Members are being sent home.

Those in the Walt Disney World College Program received emails on Saturday to let them know that their time was ending early. With the WDW parks closing at the end of business on Sunday, March 15, 2020, Disney is ceasing the college programs as well.

The emails sent out required WDW College Program participants to “collect their belongings and depart by March 18 at 11 A.M.”

Disney is temporarily suspending the following programs effective March 16, 2020:

  • Disney College Program
  • Disney Culinary Program
  • Disney Cultural Exchange Program
  • Disney Academic Exchange Program
  • International Cast Members in Guest Relations

All of the Cast Members in those programs will continue to be paid through the end of March with monthly housing deductions being waived effective immediately. These Cast Members will also all receive successful program completion in case they wish to pursue future roles with The Walt Disney Company.

It is expected that these programs will be suspended until the new ones are set to begin in May of 2020. That has not yet been confirmed, though, as the coronavirus situation will continue to be monitored so that the reopening of the parks can be reassessed as necessary.
