Fireworks have not been something seen nor heard at Walt Disney World since before the temporary park closures in March. Now, some guests will at least be able to hear some during a test on Wednesday evening.
On the evening of Wednesday, September 23, 2020, EPCOT will test fireworks on World Showcase Lagoon. The testing will take place after the park closes, and they are expected to conclude before midnight.
Guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels have been advised of this test and the noise they may hear during it.
It is not exactly known what is being tested, but the belief is that it will be Harmonious. While an exact start date is not yet known for the new nighttime spectacular coming to EPCOT, this could be a good sign that things are progressing forward.
Please note that this is not an indication that fireworks and nighttime shows will start again soon at Walt Disney World. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and new health guidelines, fireworks are still not taking place until further notice.
When it is time for them to return, Disney will surely make an official announcement.
