The parks of Walt Disney World reopened in July of last year, and masks have been required everywhere since that date. Beginning on April 8, 2021, guests will now be able to take their face coverings down to take photos.
To this very moment, masks have been required at all times in Walt Disney World except when actively eating or drinking. Starting later this week, there will be a slight ease to the rules.
The official website of Walt Disney World updated the wording on Tuesday, and things are changing a little bit soon.
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo*, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. (*Beginning April 8)
As stated, guests must still have the appropriate amount of distance between themselves and other parties for these mask-less photos. Also, guests must be outdoors for these photos, and the rule does not yet apply to indoors.
Universal Orlando Resort has allowed this to be done for a while now, and Walt Disney World will begin it this week.
