Walt Disney World to allow Cast Members to have beards; Office casual Fridays

The times they are a-changing and so can be said for the Walt Disney Company. It became a little more open years ago when male Cast Members were finally allowed to grow in a mustache instead of being cleanly shaven. Well, make way for more because as of February 3, 2012 – Disney will allow beards and goatees while also having “Casual Fridays” for office personnel.

As of February 3, 2012, male cast members will be allowed to now have neatly trimmed beards and goatees. Up until 2000, facial hair was strictly off limits in all employment positions with the Walt Disney Company. Now it appears that things have loosened up a bit more as beards and goatees will be allowed for male cast members – again, as long as it is neatly trimmed.

Can’t have any scraggly guys over in Fantasyland.

Also effective as of February 3, 2012 is the installment of “Casual Fridays” for most business personnel. Those Cast Members that are non-Costumed and do not interface with guests will be able to relax a bit at the end of their work week. Obviously this won’t be done in the parks so no need to panic that Cast Members in Epcot will be clad in t-shirts and shorts on Fridays.
