As was officially announced by Disney at the end of February, the hub in the Magic Kingdom is going to undergo a serious refurbishment that will see it essentially double in size. With that change, some things will have to go and it appears as if the Swan Boat launch is one of them.
Refurbishment walls are now surrounding the end of Main Street U.S.A. and especially the hub, and there are a lot of changes coming. Casey’s Corner now has extra seating while The Plaza is seeing a good bit of change as well.
For longtime visitors to Walt Disney World, they will also notice that the Swan Boat launch is all about gone. From the video that Disney released a few weeks ago, an overhead shot shows that the launch doesn’t appear to be there any longer.
Since their closure in 1983, the Swan Boats launch has served as a sitting/resting place that had some benches and tables and chairs. It also provided a great view of the awesome Rose Garden.
As of the evening of Thursday, March 13, 2014, the Swan Boat launch location was down to nothing more than a wooden frame.
The pics in the gallery below show it from the Cinderella Castle side and also inside Cosmic Ray’s.
