Report – SpectroMagic to return to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom ‘soon’

Speculation has been running rampant since the Main Street Electrical Parade (ELP) returned in July 2010 that it would not have much of an “extended run” at the Magic Kingdom, but here it is almost two years later and it is still shining on. Rumors have flown that SpectroMagic would be coming back, but that never came to light either. Well, it seems the time has finally (just about come) for the return of the Jiminy Cricket hosted nighttime parade.

A few sources close to the situation have confirmed that while no date is set, SpectroMagic will be returning to the Magic Kingdom “soon.” Not sure where ELP would go, but after many attempts to get Spectro back in – the time is almost at hand.

It appears as if all of the floats from SpectroMagic have been shined up, fixed up, and gotten a tune-up so they are looking quite good. Anyone who went to the Magic Kingdom on January 19, 2012 to hear President Obama’s speech may have seen them. As guests were herded backstage from Main Street to Tomorrowland – floats and other items blocked their views from the non-magical areas. Those guests may have noticed the giant fish from SpectroMagic as part of the decor.

Word is that Imagineers and other higher-ups realized just how good the floats all look and are in great working order so believe that Spectro’s return really should happen now.

Yes, this has been heard before and anything is possible so things could change…but should my sources be correct (and I’m sure they will be), than SpectroMagic could be rolling down the parade route in the Magic Kingdom before too long.

Comments

  1. Any updates on Spectro? We surely would like to see it return. I’m thinking maybe to coincide with the Holiday 2012 opening of the New Fantasyland?

  2. It’s so sad the floats got destroyed :'( something must’ve happened between then and 2013…
