Epcot’s Test Track Maybe Not Changing After All (UPDATED)

Back in January of this year, it was announced that Test Track over at Epcot would be getting a complete and total overhaul. Well, for the most part. Chevrolet would put new things into place such as the ride vehicles and guests even being able to create their own custom vehicles as automotive designers.

Word got out that the popular attraction would close in April 2012 and be shut down until sometime in the fall meaning it would be out of commission for the busy summer months. Then it was revealed that the exact dates would be April 15, 2012 until September 21, 2012.

Micechat.com is stating that this entire refurbishment may no longer even be happening.

Things have certainly quieted down on the news front for Test Track which is odd because it was building up a lot of steam near the end of last year. Now there is no talk from Cast Members, Disney, GM, Chevrolet, or anyone.

Cast Members have not been told of the ride’s closing. Any press releases from the company regarding the makeover have now been pulled. So will Test Track see new life or are things just staying put?

Update: Upon speaking personally with a number of Cast Members at Test Track today, none of them were aware of an actual date for shutdown due to refurb. Many were five-year pin CMs and even a ten-year pin…none of which had an exact date or were even advised that April was still the shut down date. One advised me that even though there had been no word of a cancellation of the refurb; talk has all but completely died out.

Originally, the CM said, it was discussed daily.
